Lead Modeler

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

- Work closely with the CG supervisors to establish the modelling pipeline for each project; 

- Lead the modeling team to ensure the work meets a high-quality standard and is delivered on schedule;

- On regular basis, act as liaison with the show supervisor and producer in regard to work allocation for each ongoing project; 

- Create digital assets based on supplied reference material and / or production concept art;

Give technical direction to the modelling team while meeting deadlines and producing high quality work; 

- Assist in shot allocation / assignment; 

- Provide constructive feedback to the modelling team to deliver the highest standards of quality;

- Work with animators and riggers to resolve technical issues and optimise assets for animation and collaborate with lighting TDs to ensure assets are optimized for render;

- Provide CG supervisors and producers with progress reports, as needed. 


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS: 
 
- Possess a thorough understanding of the modelling process and the ability to interpret designs and match photographic reference material;

- Have previous experience inn creating photorealistic organic and hard surface digital models;

- A good understanding of the visual effects pipeline from modelling through animation, texturing, as well as rendering;

- Have a good eye for detail and excellent time management skills;

- Experience in training artists with previous management experience;

Project Coordinator

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Scheduling, prioritizing and tracking internal technical assignments and project details;

- Organizing dailies, rounds and project meetings;

- Organizing and setting up media for cinesync / client review sessions;

- Ensuring tasks statuses and assignments are kept up to date;

- Coordinating and packaging shot deliveries including submission documentation;

- Recording all shot notes whether from clients, dailies, rounds or cinesyncs;

Mid-Senior Lighting Artist

The lighting artist designs and creates photorealistic CG lighting to meet the project’s technical and aesthetic standards. As part of the lighting team, in collaboration with supervisors and leads, you participate in providing the compositing department with the necessary elements for shot completion.
 

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Collaborate with other artists/departments to achieve asset look development;

- Work towards shot completion in collaboration with with the rest of the team;

- Troubleshoot creative and technical issues, and optimize rendering within the established timeline;

- Participate to find the best approach to meet technical challenges;

- Give team leads constructive feedback;

- Manage workloads effectively.
 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Experience creating photorealistic lighting using software such as Houdini, Maya or Katana;

- Experience in the film and VFX industry

- Experience with HDR images and image-based lighting;

- Know the basics of digital compositing (Nuke).

Mid-Senior Compositing Artist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Create high-quality digital composites and visual effects for live-action feature films;

- Produce high-level photorealistic images and create seamless transitions between filmed footage and composited 2D and 3D elements;

- Establish looks and/or follow set style direction;

- Work with the visual effects supervisor, the compositing supervisor & the CG supervisor to develop creative and technical approaches;

- Collaborate with other compositors to ensure shots are delivered to highest quality standard and on schedule;

- Coach and advise less experienced digital composers, pass on knowledge and techniques;

- Demonstrate a high level of scrutiny for technical checks.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- 5+ years live-action feature film composting experience;

- Excellent knowledge of Nuke software;

- Excellent knowledge of composting workflow; directory structure, file formats, naming conventions, scripts, automation tools, automated dailies etc.;

- Developed artistic and precision senses, good eye and mastery of photographic shooting including knowledge of colour, light (reflection, refraction, shadows), perspective and composition;

- Outstanding organizational and time management skills;

- Ability to take direction positively.


 

Mid-Senior Modeling Artist

JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Design and create photorealistic organic characters and hard surface models;

- Work closely with the texture and rigging departments to ensure models are working smoothly throughout the production pipeline.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Be a Maya power user;

- Good knowledge of ZBrush;

- Have the ability to take direction, follow established techniques and work in a team oriented environment.


ADDITIONAL:

- Knowledge of Houdini and Clarisse is an asset;

Senior Lookdev Artist - Textures

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

- Open UVs and take charge of the 3D elements textures provided by the modeling team in an autonomous manner;

- Carry out the shading and LookDev of the assigned assets and create realistic materials in an autonomous manner; 

- Create textures respecting the references provided by the client;

- Create the final version of a textured model in Arnold for Houdini;

- Produce photorealistic elements respecting the established technical and aesthetic standards of the on-going project (film or television series);

- Participate in problem solving of 3D assets or complex environments.
 

THE CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Experience in shading, creating textures and photorealistic CG elements in the film and visual effects industry;

- In-depth knowledge of Mari and/or Substance Painter as well as Photoshop;

Head of 2D

SUMMARY:

As the Head of 2D, you will oversee the managements of the compositing, roto paint, editorial & I/O departments. You will collaborate closely with department Hods, supervisors and team leads, to ensure the smooth and effective running of their department from a talent, creative, technical and workflow perspective.

You will also be responsible for implementing the 2D department’s overall strategy within the company in accordance with Hybride’s different workflows.


JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Talent management:

- Manage and maintain regular contact with Hods, supervisors and 2D team leads;

- Promote and nurture talent and act as a mentor for Hods, supervisors and team leads in their leadership positions;

- Ensure the onboarding of new resources is done as per Hybride’s established standards;

- Manage the 2D department’s crewing, anticipating hiring needs and scheduling conflicts;

- Make sure we have the proper structure, number of artists, appropriate techniques and tools to deliver the highest standards of quality;

- Contribute to the recruiting process by being actively involved with interviewing new talents, attending school presentations and trade shows by maintaining a good external network;

- Represent Hybride at different events and industry conferences when required;

- Carry out performance evaluations, performance management and participate in annual review processes;

- Create and maintain specific reports and analytics for the VP of Operations (technical post mortems, show reports etc.).


Production:

- Maintain good communication with other departments, show production and senior management to ensure information is adequately disclosed;

- In collaboration with the Hods, supervisors and team leads, ensure productions are appropriately supported in regards to strategic, technical and creative decisions;

- Maintain a high level technical oversight on production pipelines and technical approaches;

- Anticipate long term production needs and plan accordingly;

- Collaborate with Hods and compositing supervisors to make strategic workflow decisions, assisting them in the implementation of such workflows when necessary.


Technical:

- Collaborate with the Creative VP, Hods, TDs, development and supervisors to establish long-term visions of Hybride pipelines;

- Organize and document technical meetings (forums), with TDs, development and supervisors to discuss the different workflow challenges;

- Collaborate with the compositing supervisors, CG supervisors, Hods & heads of CG (shot or asset), TDs and development to plan and establish effective workflows across the pipeline;

- Anticipate Hybride’s technical challenges and identify solutions focusing on optimization and efficiency;

- Strategize with the executives, development and IT teams regarding overall and long-term planning of internal technologies;

- Oversee the department’s processes by reviewing and editing the reference documentation when necessary.

CG Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Work closely with the different production teams to create high level visual effects;

- Provide clear direction to all CG departments, setting clear objectives and monitoring the process, progress and results;

- Act as a liaison between production and the various technical departments;

- Determine, modify or maintain the most efficient technical approach and workflow possible;

- Design and implement the technical, artistic pipeline and workflow, and made sure the tools for the project are up to the task.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Experience on large-scale projects in the visual effects industry;

- Expertise with creative and technical aspects related to VFX production;

- Excellent organizational, communication and project management skills;

- Proven team leadership, strong motivational skills and willingness to share knowledge;

- Working knowledge of Maya, Houdini and Arnold, an asset;

- Knowledge of Python scripting considered a strong asset.

VFX Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- In collaboration with the VFX producer, manage the technical and creative teams in order to create high level visual effects;

- Provide guidance to all departments, setting clear objectives, monitoring different stages, progress and results;

- Act as the main liaison between clients and internal teams;

- Determine, modify or maintain the most effective technical and creative approaches;

- Participate in the evaluation of current and developing VFX projects.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Experience in VFX, CG or compositing supervision;

- Possess the technical and creative skills to achieve the highest level of realism on VFX projects;

- Be an expert in compositing, lighting and science behind colour science;

- Ability to work within strict deadlines and often under pressure;

- Excellent organizational skills as well as budget and financial management;

- Knowing how to develop trusting relationships with external partners;

- Excellent communication skills in both French and English.

Compositing Supervisor

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Plan, manage and supervise all of the 2D related aspects of a VFX production;

- Provide clear direction to all CG departments, setting clear objectives and monitoring the process, progress and results;

- Ensure precise management of the 2D tasks related to a project in collaboration with production: needs assessment, schedule planning, proper distribution of tasks;

- Provide creative and technical support to the 2D artists working on the project;

- Work closely with the different production teams  to establish the best methodologies required for the project;

- Ensure that deliveries are made according to the project's quality standards;

- Work with the 2D department lead to improve the quality of the pipeline and increase resources for the 2D department.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:

- Minimum 7 years of experience in animation / VFX post-production;

- 2 to 3 years of experience in a supervisor position or head of department of a compositing team;

- Possess a creative mind and sense of aesthetics;

- In-depth understanding of the entire VFX pipeline, with specific skills in digital compositing;

- Excellent communication skills, in both French and English.
