Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

The action packed sci-fi adventure takes place in New York City and exotic places as Sky Captain and his crew travel around the globe and into icy Nepalese caverns that were computer generated by Hybride's 3D modelling and animation artists.

Working from sketches mock-ups and pre-visualization conducted by the film production team Hybride's 3D modelling and animation artists generated deep caves and menacing glaciers and set the scene chock-full of mining equipment: an enormous drill monorail tracks, rail, cars, barrels, bags, explosives and other tools. Hybride designed 3D models, textures and lighting using Softimage XSI generated particle systems using Lightwave and used 3D Equalizer for the tracking.

Working with blue screen and virtual sets high-speed digital compositing and editing was done using Discreet's Inferno, Flame, Flint and Smoke. With careful attention to visual detail in each image Conran sought to convey a distinct look and feel with lighting and atmosphere throughout the film.
